You're right about sales and its still very popular but to keep up with the competition they need to release one every year and maybe even sooner if they can IMO.
Android and win mobile come out with new phones every few months and lots of better hardware and other stuff trying to take away from the iphone.
They're flooding the market with cheaper and more powerfull smartphones, the longer Apple takes the more marketshare they will lose.
All I am saying is that there is no proof to point either way at the moment. But coming to a conclusion that Lion is going to be handled like every other app is like concluding that the iPhone SDK, when released, was going to be exactly like "web apps" were previously.
i "predict" the next car i buy will have four wheels.
i don't "predict" that Lion will be handled the same as every other App Store product, but there's reason to believe it will be, and that's a cause for concern.
please stop putting words in my mouth.
See, the competitors would buy too many screens, then never be able to sell their crappy devices, thus lose a lot of money and go bankrupt.
Then Apple would have the whole market to itself. Genius. :D
This movie store is all exciting and all, but with out world stores, it will be the US who will be enjoying it :(
Holy eff. Im in the states and Im only gettin 786/384
Then again we get it for free...but still....
Dropbox sells music and movies?
I posted about the dozens of potential applications in a prior thread. I mentioned a dongle. That might help any search for the message.
Mac Updates on Tuesday? More in September?
It's time for a screen centric ultra portable processor/storage device. an iPod and a remote control, an internet wireless device (hook your MacBook to it via cheater plug gigabit ethernet), hence a phone of sorts too. All functions in software/firmware and thus this one size fits all device can also be used for POS, Barcodes, Data collection and display in medical and scientific fields, etc. Emphasis on etc.
Make it so."
Apple Event September 12th? Movie Store? [Updated]
"As for the so-called video iPod, it seems to me such a device has far more uses than a mere media replayer. It could be a remote control. It could be a PDA. It could be a 3G/4G internet portal, standalone or for an external computer, such as a, gag, MacBook.
Further, such a device is easily reprogrammable as a dictation machine, a bar code reader, a video camera, a still camera, etc, etc, etc. Some functions might need a dongle to the extent they are not implemented in Rev. 1A.
See ST-TNG datapads."
all the rumor sits speculated the 23" imac (really 24") would be revealed at the "Showtime" event. apple fooled them all and released it a week early!
let's hope the same thing happens for our mbp's. here's to next tuesday! :D
I thought i heard my name, Heres to you too!
This isn't a consumer level device, it's not for buying it to show off the latest Apple toy.
It is a workhorse, it is a behemoth, it is the king of kings when it comes to Mac desktops. Size-as long as it has power, i could care less how big it is/gets within reason. I want power, expansion capabilities, no SSD...especially no SSD...
I don't mind solid state stuff in the iOS devices...I've even come around lately to liking solid state stuff to a certain degree more than in past months...but I don't want it exclusively in the Pro. If prices come down...which they will over time...cool. I'd put two HDDs in and two SSDs in.
Optical drives...I want them in the unit. But if they can make it write or read CDs just as fast outside of it...(I admit not being educated on the differences performance-wise between an internal and external optical drive) I'd be fine getting it separate.
I'm very excited, in any case to see what's going to come of the (supposed) update...if nothing else to ogle some shiny new piece of hardware.
Pissed, I spent $99 for 3 years
Happy, more people will have access to MobileMe's benefits.
I do not understand this flawed logic. Making it free does not impact the service's values for the last three years. If you did not think it was worth the price you paid, you should not have renewed it.
I say this has someone who has paid for dotmac/mobileme since it stopped being iTools. Unlike you, my average yearly cost was 30 dollars because I bought them off of eBay.
Products might be more expensive, but there would be more Americans employed. As much are there is a downside to producing here, there is also an upside.
Up to another 50% on what they already cost?
With resolution independence, you have the ability to scale anything up and down, thsu delivering evrything the size you want it, at a much higher resoultion, thus resulting in richer image and also the capability of showing 1080p on portables and viewing way larger pictures at full screen.;)
That's pretty much all I know, but I'm sure there will be much more stuff awaiting us...:D
This is a world phone.
 that's not the point?
Still doesn't mean we have to make sure nothing we say fails to take into account the existence of every potential Apple customer. And that anyone should self-righteously "correct" any statements that do. IOW in the context of this discussion summer ends in September. What relevance does the existence of different season schedules have when the U.S. company references northern hemisphere seasons?
maybe some combined functionality setup soon?
As far as I recall it is only temporarily free, it is in beta stage if I am correct. There is supposed to be a charge for it eventually.
EDIT: Yep, as you see on the splash page it is still Beta.
I like this young geeky woman:
There is a new mnemonic featured in Danica McKellar's books Math Doesn't Suck and Kiss My Math that does address this very issue: "Pandas Eat: Mustard on Dumplings, and Apples with Spice." The intention being that Mustard and Dumplings is a "dinner course" and that Apples and Spice is a "dessert course." Then it becomes not a linear string of operations to do one after the other, but rather the "dinner course" operations are considered together and performed left to right, and then addition and subtraction are considered together, again performed again left to right.
Does this means Apple will be reverting to widescreen 16/10 displays instead of the tv-widescreen 16/9? Wouldn't be bad :D
I really hope the new iMac will have such a screen, and comes with a decent GPU like the HD6970m or the HD6950m for the top 27" iMac.
it was a joke in reference to your snarky comment relax.
Hey bro look on the bright side atleast we have bing now on appstore!
My 3GS feels like an old bump, way too screwed up to be anything close to responsive...
What was I thinking bringing it into to the desert on a regular basis...
Volume button popped out. Insurance will kindly replace the device if I send it and wait it out for a month. I want this new ibeauty nowwwww!!!
